This connector receives data from external security systems that push logs to Microsoft Sentinel. The external system must be configured to send raw event data to the Microsoft Sentinel Ingestion API. Clicking on Deploy will trigger the creation of Log Analytics tables and a Data Collection Rule (DCR). It will then create an Entra application, link the DCR to it, and set the entered secret in the application. This setup enables data to be sent securely to the DCR using an Entra token.

Atlassian Jira Audit (via Codeless Connector Framework)

Supported by:Microsoft Corporation

Supported by:Microsoft Corporation

The Azure DevOps Audit Logs data connector allows you to ingest audit events from Azure DevOps into Microsoft Sentinel. This data connector is built using the Microsoft Sentinel Codeless Connector Framework, ensuring seamless integration. It leverages the Azure DevOps Audit Logs API to fetch detailed audit events and supports DCR-based ingestion time transformations. These transformations enable parsing of the received audit data into a custom table during ingestion, improving query performance by eliminating the need for additional parsing. By using this connector, you can gain enhanced visibility into your Azure DevOps environment and streamline your security operations. This version supports connecting multiple Azure DevOps organizations: each organization is added as its own connection from the grid below, and all audit events flow into the same ADOAuditLogs_CL table.

Azure Government Cloud: This V1 connector is not supported in Azure Government Cloud. Use GitHub (using Webhooks) V2, which uses the Azure Monitor Logs Ingestion API with managed identity, instead. V2 is also the recommended replacement for existing V1 deployments. Follow the V1-to-V2 migration instructions.

Log Analytics table(s):

| Table | DCR support | Lake-only ingestion |

Step 2 - Configure the Function App

These V1 configuration instructions apply to Azure public cloud only. For Azure Government Cloud, use GitHub (using Webhooks) V2 instead.

  1. Go to Azure Portal for the Function App configuration.
  2. In the Function App, select the Function App Name and select Configuration.
  3. In the Application settings tab, select New application setting.
  4. Add each of the following application settings individually, with their respective string values (case-sensitive): WorkspaceID WorkspaceKey
  5. Once all application settings have been entered, click Save.

Post Deployment steps

NOTE: This connector is built on an HTTP trigger based Azure Function using the Logs Ingestion API (CLv2) with Managed Identity authentication. There is no need to configure a Workspace Key — authentication is handled automatically by the Function App's system-assigned managed identity. This might result in additional data ingestion costs. Check the Azure Functions pricing page for details.

Azure public cloud and Azure Government

This webhook connector can ingest events into Azure public cloud or Azure Government. Choose the matching deployment link below. The ARM template configures the DCE endpoint automatically, and the Function App selects the matching Azure Monitor token scope and Microsoft Entra authority from that endpoint. No additional cloud, scope, or authority parameters are required.

For manual deployment, copy the Logs ingestion endpoint from a DCE in the same cloud as your Function App, DCR, and workspace into DCE_ENDPOINT: https://<dce-host>.ingest.monitor.azure.com for Azure public cloud or https://<dce-host>.ingest.monitor.azure.us for Azure Government. Use the actual resource endpoint; do not change an existing endpoint's suffix. The cloud-specific scopes and authorities are described in the Azure Monitor SDK documentation.

GitHub must be able to reach the Function App's HTTPS webhook URL. This connector uses webhooks, not GitHub audit-log streaming to Blob Storage; the Azure Government restriction on the Azure Storage audit-log connector does not apply to this ingestion path.

(Optional Step) Securely store the GitHub Webhook Secret in Azure Key Vault. Follow these instructions to use Azure Key Vault with an Azure Function App.

Choose ONE from the following two deployment options to deploy the connector and the associated Azure Function

Use this method for automated deployment of the GitHub V2 data connector using an ARM Template.

  1. Choose the deployment button for your workspace's cloud. No extra Government-specific parameters are required.

    portal.azure.com

    portal.azure.us

  2. Select the Subscription and Resource Group — deploy to the same resource group as your Log Analytics workspace.

Step 2 - Configure the Function App

  1. Open your Function App in the Azure public portal or Azure Government portal.
  2. In the Function App, select the Function App Name and select Configuration.
  3. In the Application settings tab, select New application setting.
  4. Add each of the following application settings individually, with their respective string values (case-sensitive): DCE_ENDPOINT - Copy your DCE's Logs ingestion endpoint: https://<dce-host>.ingest.monitor.azure.com for Azure public cloud or https://<dce-host>.ingest.monitor.azure.us for Azure Government. The Function App automatically selects the matching authentication scope and authority. DCR_RULE_ID - The immutableId of your Data Collection Rule in the same cloud DCR_STREAM_NAME - Custom-GitHubAdvancedSecurityAlerts_CL GithubWebhookSecret (optional) - Your GitHub webhook secret for payload validation
  5. Once all application settings have been entered, click Save.
  6. Ensure the Function App has a System Assigned Managed Identity enabled.
  7. Grant the Managed Identity the Monitoring Metrics Publisher role on your Data Collection Rule.

The GitHub audit log connector ingests GitHub Enterprise audit logs into Microsoft Sentinel from Azure Blob Storage with near real-time latency. GitHub streams audit logs to Blob Storage in near real time, and the connector polls the Azure Storage Queue for new blob-created notifications every 5 minutes (default polling interval). By connecting GitHub audit logs to Microsoft Sentinel, you can view this data in workbooks, create custom alerts, and improve your investigation process.

Azure Government Cloud: This connector is not supported in Azure Government Cloud. GitHub documentation states: "Audit log streaming to blob storage in Azure Government is not supported".

Log Analytics table(s):

| Table | DCR support | Lake-only ingestion |

  • Storage Account Requirements: The Azure Blob Storage account must meet the following requirements:
  • Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (hierarchical namespace enabled) - standard storage accounts are not supported.
  • A blob container already configured to receive GitHub Enterprise audit log streaming.
  • Storage Account Network Configuration: First-time setup (recommended): On the storage account's Networking page, set Public network access to Enabled from all networks. A Network Security Perimeter (NSP) is optional.

If using NSP: Only Transition access mode is supported. In the NSP's Associated resources, set the storage account's access mode to Transition, and keep Enabled from all networks on the storage account. Transition mode falls back to the storage account's network rules.

For general guidance, see Enable Network Security for Azure Storage Blob Connectors.

  • Event Grid delivery identity: The connector enables a system-assigned managed identity on a new or supplied existing Event Grid system topic. When a topic name is supplied, the connector reads the topic before updating it, preserving its tags, attached user-assigned identities, and any already enabled system-assigned principal. The connector always creates or updates its generated event subscription using the topic's system-assigned identity; the subscription's delivery configuration and filters remain connector-managed.

Choose Create to grant that identity Storage Queue Data Message Sender on the destination storage account, or Use existing to skip creating the sender grant when the identity already has that permission, as required by Event Grid Storage Queue delivery. Use Create for a new topic or a newly enabled system-assigned identity. Account-scoped sender access allows adding messages to queues in that account, not reading or deleting messages or accessing blobs. This identity is separate from the existing ScubaSentinelToStorageProd collector application, which remains unchanged and continues to read blobs and consume queue messages.

  • Storage Account Role Assignments: The following Azure RBAC roles must be assigned to the Microsoft Sentinel enterprise application service principal (displayed below) on the Storage Account that contains your blob container:

  • Storage Blob Data Reader - required for reading blob data from the container.

  • Managed Identity Authorization Error - Confirm the Event Grid system topic's current system-assigned principal has Storage Queue Data Message Sender at the destination storage-account scope, not only on the notification queue. Use existing skips creating that grant; it does not discover or repair permissions. This is not the Microsoft Sentinel service principal displayed in the connection form. RBAC propagation: If Connect fails with Managed Identity Authorization Error, wait about five minutes and retry with the same values. Propagation can take up to ten minutes.

  • Keep the same topic and identity when retrying. Recreating the topic or toggling its identity creates a different principal and requires a new grant. If the error persists with the correct account-scoped grant, retain the failed operation's request ID and UTC timestamp for support.

  • GitHub audit log streaming stops with NSP - Check Transition access mode and Enabled from all networks as described under Storage Account Network Configuration. See Limitations for unsupported settings.

  • Event Grid subscription creation fails with an internal error or disappears after appearing - Check the failed deployment operation. Event Grid must use system-assigned managed-identity delivery with Storage Queue Data Message Sender access on the storage account. A subscription can appear while provisioning and be rolled back if provisioning fails; this does not necessarily mean a duplicate resource exists. Review diagnostic logs and retain the Event Grid request ID and UTC timestamp for support if the failure persists.

  • Enable the health feature - If the connector health feature isn't enabled, enable it to monitor connector status and detect issues early.

  • Enable diagnostic logs - Consider enabling diagnostic logs for both the Storage Account and Event Grid resources to help identify and troubleshoot health issues.

  • For more details, see Troubleshoot Azure Storage Blob connector issues.

Limitations

  • Network isolation: NSP Enforced mode and Set Secured by Perimeter (Most restricted) on the storage account are not supported for this connector. Transition mode does not fully enforce perimeter isolation.
  • IP allowlists: IP-based storage firewall rules (selected networks / IPv4 CIDR) are not supported; see Azure Storage firewall limitations. Do not rely on a fixed GitHub source IP allowlist.
  • Azure Government: GitHub does not support audit log streaming to Blob Storage in Azure Government. See GitHub documentation.

GitHub Enterprise Audit Log (via Codeless Connector Framework)

Supported by:Microsoft Corporation

Note: If you intended to ingest GitHub subscribed events into Microsoft Sentinel, please refer to GitHub (using Webhooks) Connector from "Data Connectors" gallery.

Volume limitation: GitHub limits this audit-log API to 1,750 requests/hour per user, source IP, and enterprise. With the current default of 30 events/page, the theoretical ceiling is about 13,100 events/15 minutes, before retries or competing requests. In Azure public cloud, we recommend GitHub Enterprise Audit Log (via Azure Storage) when your enterprise regularly generates 10,000+ audit and Git events/15 minutes, or connector health reports recurring GitHub rate-limit errors (HTTP 403/429) or ingestion delays keep increasing.

Azure Government Cloud: The Azure Storage connector is not supported in Azure Government Cloud. GitHub documentation states: "Audit log streaming to blob storage in Azure Government is not supported". The Azure Storage migration recommendation above does not apply in this cloud; the REST API connector remains subject to GitHub's API rate limits.

Log Analytics table(s):

| Table | DCR support | Lake-only ingestion |

  • Storage Account Requirements: The Azure Blob Storage account must meet the following requirements:
  • Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (hierarchical namespace enabled) - standard storage accounts are not supported.
  • A blob container already configured to receive GitHub Enterprise audit log streaming.
  • Storage Account Network Configuration: IP-based network rules (selected networks / IPv4 CIDR) are not supported for this connector due to Azure Storage firewall restrictions and limitations:
  • IP network rules have no effect on requests originating from the same Azure region as the storage account.
  • IP network rules cannot restrict access to Azure services deployed in the same region, as these services use private Azure IP addresses for communication.
  • Virtual network service endpoint rules do not apply to clients in a paired region.

Options:

  • No network restrictions needed? Set the storage account's Networking blade to Enabled from all networks.
  • Need to restrict access? Use Network Security Perimeter (NSP) to whitelist Scuba IPv4 addresses. Note: only IPv4 addresses are currently supported for NSP inbound rules; IPv6 is not supported. There is an ongoing effort with the NSP team to support service tags, which will eliminate the need for manual IP management in the future.

Important: Do not configure network rules based on GitHub IP ranges. GitHub does not provide stable IP ranges as the source of audit log streaming, and those IPs may change without notice.

An existing topic must belong to the selected storage account.

Using Network Security Perimeter (NSP) is optional. If your storage account is in an Enforced NSP, allow inbound traffic from the Event Grid topic's subscription and the Scuba service IPv4 ranges, as described in Enable network security. The connector does not enable NSP or change its rules, associations, or access mode.

The system-assigned identity has no additional charge and requires no deployment script, container instance, or temporary storage account. Normal Event Grid, Storage, and Microsoft Sentinel charges still apply.

  • Event Grid subscription creation fails with an internal error or disappears after appearing - Check the failed deployment operation and any Enforced NSP on the storage account. Event Grid must use system-assigned managed-identity delivery with Storage Queue Data Message Sender access on the storage account and an NSP inbound subscription rule. A subscription can appear while provisioning and be rolled back if provisioning fails; this does not necessarily mean a duplicate resource exists. Review NSP diagnostic logs and retain the Event Grid request ID and UTC timestamp for support if the failure persists.
