UEBA anomalies

Sentinel UEBA detects anomalies based on dynamic baselines created for each entity across various data inputs. Each entity's baseline behavior is set according to its own historical activities, those of its peers, and those of the organization as a whole. Anomalies can be triggered by the correlation of different attributes such as action type, geo-location, device, resource, ISP, and more.

You must enable UEBA and anomaly detection in your Sentinel workspace to detect UEBA anomalies.

Sentinel uses enriched data from the BehaviorAnalytics table to identify UEBA anomalies with a confidence score specific to your tenant and source.

UEBA Anomalous CheckPoint Anomalous VPN Login

Description: Unusual successful VPN logins to a Check Point gateway from public (non-private) source IP addresses. Anomalies are determined by comparing the source IP address, resolved country/region, and ISP of each login against the user's own history and against organization-wide patterns. First-time logins from a new IP address or country/region, or logins from a country/region never before seen in the tenant, might indicate impossible travel, compromised credentials, or unauthorized remote access.

UEBA Anomalous CheckPoint Device Compromised

Description: An unusual burst of Check Point IPS, Anti-Bot, or Anti-Virus prevention detections on a single device. Anomalies are determined by comparing the device's daily detection volume against its own 30-day history, and are raised when the volume deviates significantly from that baseline. Such bursts might indicate exploitation attempts against the device, or malware propagating from it.

UEBA Anomalous CheckPoint Failed VPN Login

Description: Unusual patterns of failed VPN login attempts against a Check Point VPN-1 & FireWall-1 gateway. Anomalies are determined by comparing the source IP address, resolved geolocation, and ISP of failed logins against the user's historical baseline. A first-time failure from a new IP address, or an unusual concentration of failures, might indicate brute-force attacks, credential stuffing, or unauthorized access attempts against the VPN gateway.
